DARK ARTS FEST 2002 is here, bigger and better and, uh … brighter than snow. It's Utah's largest annual Goth/Industrial festival, a four-day humdinger presented by Nightmares Productions and Club Sanctuary. But don't think for a moment that you have to be Gothic to appreciate what Dark Arts has to offer--it is for everyone. Twenty local and national bands will be performing: Headliners Human Drama, L.A. dark wave; the nomadic fire-drumming Apocalypse Theatre; Indianapolis horror-punk/death rockers The Cadavers; SMP from Seattle; Fiction 8 from Denver; Mend from Boise and the "ooky" Centimeters from L.A. Local bands playing are Ether, Awaiting Treatment, Boundless, Die Monster Die! Domiana, Endless Struggle, Fuse, Little Sap Dungeon, Phono, Redemption, Riverhead, Tragic Black and Violet Run. L.A. spoken-word performer Clint Catalyst will be performing and a fashion show will boast four local design whizzes and L.A. fashion designer Jared Gold, whose works have appeared in Italian Vogue. Don't forget belly-dancing performances, an art and photography show of dark images, and a craft sale/bazaar. This is a festival on par with those in New York and L.A., so don't miss out! Dark Arts Fest 2002 @ Sanctuary, 740 S. 300 West, 532-4614, June 6-9. For a detailed schedule, see www.darkarts.utahgoth.net
